Ian Stone, Doubting Thomas, oil on linen, 12x16 in, 2023

“If you know the painting by Caravaggio, Doubting Thomas, it was my direct inspiration for this piece.

A doubting Thomas is a skeptic who refuses to believe without direct personal experience. 50-60 years ago, it was not uncommon for people to think or believe that being gay was a phase or a mental illness or deviance in some shape or form. It’s embarrassing that the same things are being said about trans people today.”

STOP SCROLLING!!! THIS IS NOT A PHOTO IT’S OIL ON LINEN!!!!!!!!!

food prices have skyrocketed but all of us must remember that we’re all getting paid half as much as all of us should be, or less

people could support a family on a $7 minimum wage in the 70s, today that minimum wage has barely gone up a few dollars, if it kept up with productivity and inflation you’d be getting at least $35/h working at mcdonalds

Did you guys know that the most recent version of sharks have fins that are kinda leg like and they like to walk up onto land?

no way i must have missed an update!

The Epaulette shark is only about 9 million years old as a species, making it the most recent branch in the shark family. And it is slowly but surely evolving into a land animal

what black mirror episode are we in now

A screenshot of a tweet by Jennifer Kretchmer (@dreamwisp): "For context, SAG background performers make less than $200/day. Less than $200 for your likeness rights being owned IN PERPETUITY, FOREVER, by the studios."ALT

@ruffboijuliaburnsides

I s2g if I hear anyone bitching when shit stops coming out bc of these strikes I’m gonna start stabbing. This is insane and I hope they keep striking until the studios are so desperate they’re ready to give them everything they ask.

Honestly, I might bitch when stuff doesn’t come out. Because if the studios would pay fairly and not force the creatives, whose work I enjoy and want more of, to stop work to gain a baseline level of respect for creating something people want to buy this wouldn’t be happening. Bitch about the strikes all you as long as you’re clear it’s the studios that are preventing anything coming out.

So yeah, I might complain about how the AMPTP hasn’t rolled over and let them have their way. It’s not the actors who are to blame for the strike, just as it’s not the studios responsible for the work you love.

History cares about the artists not their patrons. Who paid for Leonardo’s paints? Who cares? They didn’t produce the Mona Lisa.

Ok yeah that bitching is totally valid and I’ll be doing it too.

Hollywood insiders, including an unnamed studio executive, told Deadline that the plan is to let the strike drag on for several more months until writers start to run out of money.

“The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” one unnamed studio executive told the entertainment publication.
